I haven't really heard anyone say 'thank you' for the little handout.
I am saying 'thank you'- the $600 I received is going towards steel mesh for my driveway.

lacoste shoes fashionable

10:19 PM Sunday, February 22, 2009

They've never been popular in my time. In fact, they were often thought of as the 'golfer's' shoe.
Now, it seems that these French made shoes are the 'in' thing. At $150 a pair I fail to see the allure.
Interestingly Le Coq Sportif brAnd of shoes doesn't rate a look. How do the youth decide what is 'in'?

I'm on the train going home. Headphones on, Take 5 by Brubeck playing melodically in my ears. A woman boards the train at Strathfield. Her features, chiselled face, tanned skin and attire suggest she is South American. Most probably Chilean.
Anyway, she sits next to me and closes her eyes. Then, beyond Brubeck's dulcet tones I hear a humming. Possibly a lullaby.
Yes, the Chilean is comforting herself with a sweet lullaby.

Teaching Conditions in Tanzania

3:19 PM Saturday, February 14, 2009

The Tanzanian Teachers Union in Kagera region is contemplating legal action against Bukoba District Commissioner Albert Mnali who last Wednesday ordered a police officer to cane primary school teachers in the area.

Mr Mnali allegedly ordered a police officer who was accompanying him during his official tour in the District on Wednesday 11, to dispense four strokes of the cane each to 16 teachers for failure to execute their duties.

According to impeccable sources, Mr Mnali accused the teachers for reporting late at their workplaces and absenteeism as indicated in the teachers attendance registers in three primary schools.

Back about 6 years ago there was a song 'in the city' by Gerling. One of those songs that could apply to any large Australian city. Walking along Cleveland St in Sydney you can start to appreciate the song a little more.
Here it is

Frogs Alive!

Tadpoles in a large tub in the garden yielded a welcome guest to the backyard. He gives a deep 'tock' sound every evening. Some would be driven crazy by this. After a while it becomes quite soothing.

Was listening to edPod where the opposition Ed. Minister stated that for many teaching was a career of last resort. Should we entertain the thought?
